Home of the Wolverines
It was a brutally hot day for the DCXC Invitational, where the Wolverines competed in the meet that is broken down by class grades. The scoring differentiated from traditional cross-country and only the top 3 from a team in each race counted towards the team scores that race. For overall team awards the scores from each race were added up for a total across each of the 4 class races for each gender, since West Potomac did not field full teams in the Girls Freshman and Boys Junior race we were ineligible for the overall team awards.
Top 25 finishers in each race were awarded medals and West Potomac had a number of runners finish towards the top of their field. Freshman AJ Terio (5th), senior Claire Barber (12th), senior captain Kaycie O’Boyle (17th), sophomore Ethan Payne (18th), junior Bowman Shaughnessy (19th), senior captain Benjamin Weisel (25th) and junior Ripley Vaughan (25th) all placed in their respective class races.
The senior girls as well as the junior girls placed 2nd in the team standings for the respective class races. Barber, O’Boyle and classmate Cameron Long (30th) rounded out the team score for the senior Lady Wolverines, while Shaughnessy, Vaughan and Lily Penn filled out the team score for the junior team.
