Boys Varsity Baseball
Varsity baseball coach Jim Sullivan informed me earlier today that he has resigned, effective immediately. His decision stems from a difference of opinion related to the future direction of the baseball program. Assistant varsity coach Jason Hescock will assume the varsity head coaching position and remain in that capacity through the end of the 2018 season. We thank Mr. Hescock for his willingness to step in as head varsity coach on very short notice. The baseball games that are scheduled for this evening here at West Potomac High School and at TC Williams are not impacted by these changes and will be played as scheduled.
I very much appreciate the loyalty and support of our baseball players and families. We will have a closed baseball parent meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm in the career center to address any additional questions, feel free to contact my office or Director of Student Activities Aaron Helmick.
Dear West Potomac Baseball Family: Fairfax County Police announced today (see below) that two juveniles are facing misdemeanor hazing charges for the incident that occurred in the boys’ locker room at West Potomac High School two years ago. As you know, my office notified you in March when we were made aware of these specific allegations involving members of the baseball team. We began an immediate investigation, which resulted in disciplinary consequences being assigned to those responsible. At our meeting, I informed you that although the school’s investigation ended, the police investigation continued resulting in today’s announcement. I wanted to reach out to you so that you would not be blind-sided by the report. As we discussed, all of our coaches and athletes understand that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Student welfare and safety are of paramount concern to all of us at West Potomac High School. When any concerns are reported of student mistreatment, we will follow up through established channels and prescribed procedures. The allegations here were taken seriously, and the process was followed. These procedures are in place to assure that student safety is provided for in every situation and that there is fairness, due process, and accountability as to each individual. Our boys have been, day-by-day, recovering from all aspects of this and I know you want them to continue to heal. Let’s keep our focus on that and them continuing to play ball. We are in championship mode and excitement is in the air! Thank you for your understanding and continuing support of our team. Sincerely, Mrs. Millard https://fcpdnews.wordpress.com/2018/05/17/two-west-potomac-high-school-students-charged-in-hazing-incident/
Dear Baseball Families,
It has come to our attention through the FCPS Office of Communication that members of the press may be present at tonight's game. The press has been instructed by FCPS Office of Communications that no player or staff interviews will be conducted and they may not be disruptive to the game.

We have a gap in our record keeping from 1996 to 2005. If anyone knows players from that time or has any information on team or individual statistics, please let me know. This leaves a big gap in our records and we would love to find any information that we could.
